Some hearing aids are highly water resistant, but not always completely waterproof. If your hearing aids get wet, first, you should immediately turn them off. Next, if you have batteries, take them out or, if your hearing aids are rechargeable, ensure that the charging port is not covered. Then, you can dry your hearing aids gently with a cloth and use either a dehumidifier or drying kit to get out any excess moisture.
If you’re hearing 7-8 consecutive beeps in your hearing aids, this means that they need to be serviced and your hearing aids need to be sent out to the manufacturer. What is a Hearing Aid Dehumidifier?
A hearing aid dehumidifier is the best way to get rid of excess moisture from your hearing aids. It is a small box designed to draw out moisture from your hearing aids, prolonging the life of your devices and making sure sweat or accidental water exposure from the day does not impact the way your hearing aids are working. With no batteries needed, you can place your hearing aids in them overnight to keep them dry.
How Should I Store My Hearing Aids in the Summer?
It’s best to store your hearing aids in a cool, dry place in your charging case, avoiding leaving them in a humid area like the bathroom overnight. Additionally, if you are prone to sweating or find that your hearing aids get wet during the summer months, you can store them in a hearing aid dehumidifier overnight.
